Last week it was raining, that slow steady drizzle that we all associate winter days with. The kind of day that has a crisp snap to the air, as that of a scolding parent should you dare head outside without a coat. The clouds laboured their way across the skies, heavy and ominous, threatening at any moment to spill forth their cargo as in protest. And the rain ? The rain fell softly, almost lazily, from the sky above. Raindrops, like casual shoppers at a sunday market, drifted here and there on a whim. Sometimes life just doesn't go your way. Sometimes plans just fall apart, no matter how hard you try to keep them together. And that sucks, it really does. I feel that too many of our generation have been sold this idea that things will work out, that job you want will fall in your lap, you will have that glamour relationship, the flashy car and the nice house in the good street. Some days you just get fed up, sick of what is happening in your life and all the things that are not going quite to plan. You get disheartened. Disappointed. Frustrated. Angry at your circumstances, your close family and friends, but mostly at yourself. Then you start to BLAME . You blame everyone else for what has happened, the weather, the boss's favoritism, anything you can think of at the time. It caused me to contemplate how we all see things differently and how each one of us has our own story to create just by living. Over 10 years ago I took  flight to Costa Rica, a snap decision made in under a week from booking to flying out. Just me, a back pack, a lonely planet guide book and a burning desire to travel. I had barely a word of Spanish under my belt, enough money for a few months if I was frugal & a rough idea that I wanted to back pack from Mexico to the bottom of South America. The palpable sense of adventure & excitement was ENORMOUS. But so too was FEAR. When I stood at the departure gate in a small rural airport & looked out at the single engine plane that would take me to the international airport , I really stared down the fear that was screaming at me to stop this madness. Was I CRAZY ?!! My friends and family all said I was, so I must be right ??
